Which castings process do you use?

We have two primary casting processes. We have a traditional cope and drag mold line which can do small production runs. We also have a new and innovative robomolding process which utilizes sand milling robots to make molds. This reduces lead time greatly, but is for very low volume projects or prototypes only.

What is your lead time?

Your lead time will be quoted for each inquiry depending on complexity of the product and our current workload. We will do everything we can to meet your needs. We generally have the capacity to expedite products if needed for additional fees.

What kind of certifications do you offer?

We offer chemical and mechanical certifications as well as a laser scan report for first article castings. We also have the ability to do certified Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Magnetic Particle Inspection on most products depending on customer specification. We have a full CMM for detailed reports on machined castings. We utilize outside labs for all other certifications such as Xray, charpy testing, or Ultrasound testing.

What type of information do you need from me to provide an accurate quote?

The more information the better! At the very least we will need a material type (preferably ASTM spec), detailed drawing, quantity needed, and quality requirements. We would prefer to have a 3D model if you have one readily available. Feel free to call our main number if you have questions about anything.

What size parts can Southern Cast Produce?

We can pour up to 2000 lbs casting weight in steel or stainless. We can pour up to 3000 lbs casting weight in ductile iron or gray iron. We can pour up to 700 lbs casting weight in aluminum. If you have a casting that is slightly over these numbers please feel free to review with us as there are some exceptions to these rules.

What kind of Engineering Services does Southern Cast Provide?

Southern Cast provides a wide range of engineering services. We use the latest solidification software to provide the best results to our customers, for more information on solidification please click here.

We also have some of the best CAD engineers in the nation. We fully design the entire mold package with all of its gating and rigging in Solidworks so we can check mold fitment before it’s even made! We prefer that the customer provide a 3D model of the part but in some cases we can model if need be. We will happily add casting stock to your machine models if you require it.

Southern Cast also has an entire reverse engineering team. We have a laser scanner that we can use to create a 3D model of your part for approval.

Do you offer production options?

We consider ourselves a job shop but we do have a cope and drag mold line that can do small production runs. We can certainly design, cast, and machine a new aluminum CNC pattern to run at another foundry of your choosing. Please talk to a quoting expert for more information on production castings.

Do you have other locations?

Southern Cast Products is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas. However, we do own a sister foundry called St. Louis Precision in St. Louis, Missouri.

We also own a small pattern shop called Branson Pattern Works in Hollister, Missouri.

Do you offer machining?

Southern Cast has a full machine shop and can likely assist in your machining needs, please see more info on the machining page, and talk to a quoting expert about your machining requirements.
